Widearea Systems is a convergence technology company in Unified Communication products and services area. Widearea Systems V-Contax product dramatically improves customer satisfaction and revolutionizes way of interaction among companies and their customers.

V-Contax is in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) product area, which is one of the fastest growing markets, estimated $37.8 billion in 2005 according to AMR research.

Widearea Systems recently acquired operating assets of Magicsoft, including its flagship product VC Wizard, a multipoint video conferencing technology.  Widearea Systems plans to immediately support existing VC Wizard customers, and plans to launch updates for the next 18 months.

Widearea Systems’ management team has solid execution experience and superior technology vision with over 90 years of experience in telecommunication and computer software industry. The followings are the profiles of the management team:

Choon B. Shim, President and CEO

Choon Shim is a well known VoIP expert and the book author of "Practical VoIP Security" and "Community Works" which were read widely throughout the world. Mr. Shim was Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Qovia where he started the company and raised $23 million capital. Qovia once employed more than 60 people. Qovia was sold to Cisco Systems. Mr. Shim is President of Widearea Systems and a Technical Advisor to Samsung Networks. He is a frequent speaker at academic and industry VoIP and networking conferences. Mr. Shim was recently a keynote speaker at the SNPD conference and chaired the VoIP Security Panel at Supercomm05. He was awarded the Executive of the Year from Tech Council of Maryland, and Innovator of the year from State of Maryland. Choon Shim has earned a B.S. in Computer Science and M.S in Electrical Engineering.

Nate Wallace, COO

Nate Wallace is a senior executive with extensive background in operations, corporate finance and investor relations. Nate spent the last 16 years at Manugistics Group, Inc., which was acquired in July 2006 by JDA Software. Nate helped take Manugistics Group, Inc. public in 1993 and raised more than $330 million in capital over time. Also worked in corporate finance at a regional bank, providing merger and acquisition advisory services. Nate earned a MBA in corporate finance from Georgetown University and a BS in Aerospace Engineering from Northrop University.

Rick Mealy, VP of Sales
 

With more than 30 years of experience in sales management, service operations, and business development in the data communications industry, Rick Mealy brings a wealth of in-depth knowledge of the data communications market, plus demonstrated sales management acumen, to WideArea Systems. Mr. Mealy is responsible for developing the worldwide sales and marketing functions that will support the company’s family of voice and video over IP products. He joined the organization in April 2008 following a six-year tenure at Sprint Nextel, where he served in various management positions. Most recently, Mealy coordinated public sector sales for Sprint’s Strategic Alliance Organization where he consistently exceeded sales goals. Previously, Mealy served in diverse sales management, marketing, and operations roles at UUNet Technologies, Infonet Services Corp., US Sprint, Telenet, and Computer Sciences Corporation. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Oswego.
